How We Designed a Storybook Wedding
“High-end, classy storytelling with a playful, colorful vibe.” That’s how photographer Brittney Hart described our wedding design at Utah’s beautiful Twenty & Creek! This wedding design was full of color (would you expect anything different from us?) and beautiful symbolism as a nod to a couple whose love is straight out of a storybook!
We wanted to take the concept of a storybook and take it to the next level! We started by creating the concept for a romantic bookshelf-inspired seating chart. We started by finding a variety of books from a local thrift store and hand-painting each book in some of our favorite colors from the color palette.
From there, we added gold lettering to each book to help guests find their seat for dinner. To create a modern and more whimsical appearance than a standard bookshelf, we brought in pedestals of multiple heights, candelabras, lavender candles, and a simple white backdrop to make it all stand out in the room. Once we’d finished this concept, we were ready to think through the other romantic aspects of the design!
We shared our color palette with our creative partners and worked with them to create a colorful design full of softness and whimsy! The floral installations for this design were created by florist, Susie Youngs with Wishblossom Flowers. Her florals brought in the rich purples and pinks that we love to use in designs while having softer-colored blooms to create visual balance.
The golden candelabras, taper candles, and floating candles in the centerpiece brought in a regal feel as they soared above our textured, pink tablecloth. This sweet scene was paired with unique, white textured china and gold accents fit for royalty! We brought in additional color with soft yellow napkins and a single bloom placed on each place setting.
The crowning moment of this design was our custom cake from The Dessert Studio Utah! They brought in the floral color palette and golden accents to create a romantic cake that stood on its own among a fresh floral garden.
Our bride, Aili was styled by Elyssa Anderson and wore beautiful jewelry from J. Brooks Jewelers that perfectly complimented the beading and sparkles on her Utah Bride Room gown.
